Design Considerations

The Plaza Midwood Contemporary Garden rebuild is the clearest example of why this matters: the original backyard failed because of improper base construction beneath the material, not the material itself. Its rebuild also shows how far hardscape detailing can go when it's designed intentionally: concealed channel drainage that disappears into shadow, floating limestone planters, and a floating Ipe bench with concealed fasteners.
